A collection of images initially from Kirsty and Ahmad’s pre wedding photo shoot trial in Port Melbourne as well as their wedding by Melbourne wedding photographers John and Caterina.
This was the very first time I pointed my camera at Kirsty late December 2013
The very first photo I took of Kirsty and Ahmad
This photo was taken across the road from Gasworks Albert Park.
A tiny forest of Casuarinas (She oak) provided a beautiful sort backdrop once again near Gasworks. It did not take long Kirsty and Ahmad to dart being themselves.
I simply wanted to demonstrate how shallow debt of field works not to mention the beautiful use of backlight.
A very unorthodox location perhaps (sitting on a footpath) however I wanted to clearly demonstrate that it is not always about the location.
We met 7 years ago during our final year at University. For the next 4 months we flirted, dated and kept our relationship secret from colleagues. Then Ahmad had to return to Canada to wait for his Australian visa. Six long months dragged by. Nevertheless we jumped in, decided to move to Perth and lived together there for the next 5 years; before moving back home to Melbourne 2 years ago.
We have never done anything by the book, so when we decided to get married – in the kitchen over breakfast one day – eloping seemed the obvious choice. Needless to say none of our family or friends were surprised, but all were in agreement that we needed a party to celebrate. We needed a photographer who was as casual, classic and contemporary as we wanted our wedding reception to be.
John was the ideal choice for us: from the free no obligation trial photo shoot to his flexibility with our crazy schedules, John streamlined the preparations and provided worthwhile insight. On the day, John and Caterina kept the mood fun, interesting and were able to capture some incredible photos. Almost four months to the day of our wedding, we renewed our vows and had our perfect day with family and friends. And thanks to John and Caterina we now have perfect photos to remember it by as well.

We decided to take a few photographs ahead of the ceremony in South Melbourne.

The kiss!
And another kiss!
The light outside was spectacular yet it was getting dark. Lenses like the 35mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.2 came very handy.
