Lauren & Jacob’s wedding-Melbourne Wedding Photography-Luminare South Melbourne
On Saturday 25th of January 2014, I married my best friend and soul mate.
The day was gorgeous, sunny and still, a perfect 23 degrees. Everything felt so magical.
The style of our wedding was simple, effortless chic and timeless elegance! We wanted our wedding to depict our style and personalities.
My gown was created by Steven Khalil Couture in Sydney. Working with Steven on creating my wedding gown was the perfect experience. Not only is his work stunningly elegant and feminine but he is an incredibly down to earth designer who is so accommodating to his clients. I remember being completely blown away at my last fitting after seeing my gown. It was a truly magnificent experience.
My shoes were Christian Louboutin which came all the way from Rome. I just had to have the red sole. These peep toe silver sparklers were a perfect match to my silver Jimmy Choo clutch.
The girl’s hair was done by the fabulous hair salon Rokk Ebony. Being a client of the salon, I had to have our hair done by the lovely staff at Rokk Ebony. I had my hair is an all off the face wrap bun as I wanted my hair to be very simple given the detail on my dress. Two of my bridesmaids had ponytails and two of my bridesmaids had buns. We thought this worked out perfectly so the girls didn’t look too similar.
The girl’s makeup was done by the very talented Melbourne Makeup Artist Kerry Tseros. Kerry’s makeup work is stunning. A focus on lashes and flawless skin, Kerry knew exactly what look we wanted and delivered.
The gorgeous and classic bridesmaid dresses were made by my lovely friend and fashion designer Lauren Acciarito. Lauren completely blew me away with the bridesmaid’s dresses. I chose Lauren because of her attention to detail and great eye for style and fashion. As the theme of our wedding was timeless and elegant, the Audrey Hepburn inspired design of the bridesmaid dresses, pearl trim belt and cream tone fabric tied in beautifully with the small pearls beaded on the bodice of my dress. I felt this finish gave an overall femineity to the look on the day.
The bridesmaids wore pearl earrings and necklace from Von Treskow. My pearl earrings were also from Von Treskow.
Our ceremony was held at the quaint St Mary’s Parish in East St Kilda and we were married by Father Barry Moran. We were drawn to this Church because of its beautiful gold detailing and intimate feel.
I walked down the aisle to a beautiful cover of Calvin Harris’ “Feel so close to you” sang by Abbey Stone. We felt that this song was appropriate for a church ceremony and relevant to us given that we had a strong connection with the lyrics of the song.
The ceremony was a short but a special ceremony. Father Moran engaged with our guests and made reference to the love and strength of our grandparents- it was very sentimental.
Our evening celebrations was held at Luminare in South Melbourne which is exclusively managed by Melbourne’s best catering company The Big Group. We were drawn to this venue because of the stunning natural light during the day and spectacular views of Melbourne’s cityscape by night. The venue’s décor is chic, but minimalistic in a neutral palette of black, grey and white which suited our style perfectly.
Luminare created a romantic and timeless aesthetic for our wedding which is exactly what we wanted. The fantastic food, friendly staff and brilliant views made the night so perfect!
Flower Jar in Richmond did a beautiful job of the floral work at our wedding. Our table arrangements alternated between a clean, elegant arrangement, using three different size glass fishbowls all massed with white hydrangea, garden roses and lisianthus’ on circle mirrors to 70cm tall glass vases massed with an unstructured yet elegant ball of garden roses, hydrangea, lisianthus’ and silver suede. At the base of the 70cm tall glass vases we had three bud vases with a big blown bloom in each. Mercury tea lights were scattered around the arrangements to create a romantic feel. Saint Gertrude Letterpress created our gorgeous menu’s which were letter pressed in a light slate colour to match the design of our invitations.
Down the front of the bridal table we had a thick collection of different size fishbowls filled with masses of white, cream and green blooms such as hydrangea, garden roses and lisianthus’ with foliage’s and silver suede sitting on a mirror runner. Tea lights were also scattered around the table.
On a mirrored table in between the bar and guest tables we had large collection of twelve different height glass vases all massed with the different types of flowers and coming out on an angle with tea lights and pillar candles in between.
Flower Jar also did our bouquets in a gorgeous rounded posy of David Austin garden roses, in shades of white and ivory to create a fluffy and elegant look.
AB FAB Cakes in Kew did a lovely job of our wedding cake. Our cake was a simple white iced three tier cake with silver odd shaped cachous around the base of each tier. As part of a decorative finish Flower Jar prepared fresh flowers which were placed on top of our cake.
Our band was HG4 Melbourne who did a wonderful job keeping our guests entertained and up dancing. They played a mix of old, new and Italian songs so this catered for all our guests.
Our first dance to Lana Del Rey’s “Young & Beautiful” tied in perfectly with the overall theme of the wedding, timeless and elegant. Whilst our wedding aimed for an elegant and timeless theme, we also wanted to make sure that our guests enjoyed themselves and felt relaxed. We had a photo booth which was provided by In the Booth Melbourne. We could tell that our guests loved the booth as it was busy all night.
It is hard to believe how much work, time and effort goes into planning one day. We absolutely loved the experience of planning our wedding and we would do it all over again in a heart beat!
