I am still buzzing from yesterday’s wedding (Effie and Con) and have posted five of the most powerful images; starting with the “Kapnisma” (Holly smoke) Olive leaves burned in a vessel called “kapnistiri”. A Greek Cypriot wedding tradition. I love the image of “horos tou Isaia” ; the dance of Isaiah perhaps the most moving part of a Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony. There was not a dry eye in the church with close relatives and the parents being moved by this iconic ritual.
Con’s expression leaving the church as a married couple, for the first time, is priceless. I was so excited when I saw this photograph I just couldn’t wait to share it with you.
Finally one of the most heart felt moments of the night was the speech by the “Coubara” matron of honour who struggled at times to fight the tears expressing her love for Effie and Con. It was such a beautiful speech! Both Jane and I enjoyed being part of this memorable wedding.
